Kiss my Arse Yahoo! No, Thank you Yahoo! Without you I probably would never have bothered to give the site the stylistic overhaul it was crying out for! So here we are, a brave new Web Site, better looking, everything
you need in the one location, and a simpler method of becoming listed in New Welsh Music. Forget the New Welsh Music Web Ring. We are now New Welsh Music! November 08th 2000 Still no signs of reviews from the promised reviewers, so I 've been doing plenty off my own back to keep you going! Its a bit disappointing really, but the offer is still there if anyone else is
interested. Yahoo, have pissed me off no end with the Web Ring Debarcle, so I'm planning on ditching the Web Ring side of business, and making all the listings on site. I will e mail everyone shortly
with my intentions. Have you noticed the demo section? Why not have me give yours a once over! Check out the demo page for details!October 09th 2000 Still problems with the web ring system. I'm considering making the site more open, and including
bands who don't join the ring, and a bit of a major overhaul. I'm still waiting for my reviewers to send me some reviews, so I'm am keeping things ticking over with my own ones. If any one else fancies doing some then E
mail me. September 17th 2000 The nightmare continues! The Web site is up and running fine, Reviews section still looking a bit bare and waiting for contributions. Just to
really tee me off, Yahoo have taken over Web Ring, and made a right pigs ear of it. As Ring Master, It has been incredibly enjoyable working with the old web ring management system. That is now gone, replaced with a
slimed down, and quite frankly, shit (when it can even be bothered to work!) system. People are queued to enter, but the new mechanisms don't work, so I'm having difficulty admitting them. If anyone thinks I have
forgotten about them, I haven't, but I'm going round the big corporate 'we don't care a shit' Yahoo support and customer service sections trying to rectify the problems. Hopefully normal services will be resumed shortly.
On the Good Side though, we got a positive review in Septembers BUZZ! magazine. August 29/08/00 Well, what a nightmare! As you may have noticed, the web site
has changed a lot! That is because I have had to start it over from scratch, due to a failure to back it up more regularly and losing my hard drive! Let this be a warning to you all. Back up your important stuff. This has caused some unfortunate repercussions. It unfortunately means the reviews need to be set back, due to me being swamped with catch up. I have provisionally stated a date with my reviewers for the
first publication, which is around the 8th September. Apologies for the delay, but like British Rail, I will get there eventually.
In the meantime, listen to the station, use the notice boards and click on the banners! August 07th 2000 Started today, the New Welsh Music web radio station! Available from
here!!!!. I have added a couple of tracks by bands with material available on mp3.com. If I've missed you out then let me know! I will add you to the Station.Got 2000
flyers printed for the site, I gave out some at the Cardiff Big Weekend Music Festival. I would be grateful if ring members would take some off my hands to distribute at gigs and such! Let us know.
July 30th 2000 New Welsh Music is growing as fast as I can build it. 31 Ring members, 1300 ring hits and new html. Coming in late August will be the weekly review section of mp3s
from not just our ring, but whom ever is interested in getting a review, worldwide, what ever kind of music they make. If you would like to be reviewed, send us your urls and songs here. The review team of 12 will include BBC Radio Wales presenters Lisa Matthews and Steve James, along with a talented selection of music reviewers. A mistake has
been spotted by myself in the old html fragment for the mp3 page. It renders the random link useless, but can easily be fixed by taking out the space in the code which reads: Rand om. Sorry guys, you know I ain't an
expert in this stuff. You could take the opportunity to change you fragment for one of the sexy new ones on the html page. Start sending us pics and info so I can add you to the site band page, and send
us any info you can on gig venues and contact names, so I can start adding them to the venues listing. Lots more links have also been added, to great sites to help with your music. July 9th 2000
This Site is now a month old, and already the web ring has had 800+ hits! The home page has now had some extra features added, with the aim of further expanding. We have now got a brand new message board
, courtesy of
www.bravenet.com so now you can leave messages, advertise gigs, share views or whatever. I'm
also beginning to compile a links page for resources and sites that will be useful to us all, so if you have any, please e mail me with your suggestions. I also want to get further information on yourselves in the site, so if you feel like composing a paragraph, pictures, logos, etc then
e mail them to me and I will add them to the site's band pages. We now have 23 sites in the ring,
with 8 more queued and awaiting entrance pending their html inclusions. I still have to start the main promotion push, but will be doing so shortly. Thanks for your patience and participating.
June 25th 2000 This Site is going to be undergoing a lot of change. At the moment it is only 2 weeks old, and features 17 sites. In that time the ring has received 500+ hits, showing that it is
catching peoples imagination. With even more bands joining the ring, this will increase. Like I said though, this site will be undergoing a lot of change in its quest to be the site where anyone can find
the best of New Welsh Music. To this end I have registered a new domain for this site: www.newwelshmusic.com This will be where we are moving too shortly! I hope to expand the site, and as soon as
we have a few more people in the ring, a major campaign of promotion will be launched! I can only ask you all to bare with me, as this take a lot of time, and I ain't no expert either! Some changes may be necessary, but
I will let you know as these happen. Spread the word people, get the punters in! Regards. David Lloyd. |
